The war has just ended and the troops are happily returning home. The soldiers are now considered war heroes and are being treated with the utmost respect. The men deserve it risking their lives just to save ours. Any man who would put America before himself deserves to be honored by any citizen of this country. Unfortunately, this is not the case. African Americans are being treated just as disrespectfully as ever. They are fighting with the whites for jobs and housing, and it is not leading to any good. Riots are breaking out everywhere, and many African Americans are dying.

Throughout the war, one-third of the U.S. Army was African American, when only one-tenth of the population is African American. Without them defending our nation, we would not have been as successful as we were.

Even though they showed their true patriotism by putting their lives on the line even when they were being discriminated against, whites are accusing the African Americans of being disloyal to our country, just because they do not want to be segregated any longer. Their lack of cooperation with the absurd rules of the other Americans is also causing them to be lynched much more after the war then they have been in previous years.

African Americans went into the war hoping it would help their treatment back at home. When entering the Army, they received the worst jobs and the most difficult tasks. Very little about the war benefited the African Americans.

In the U.S., many people are moving north for work. There are many jobs available, and Americans are taking advantage of this. The whites are protesting the idea of blacks working with them, and they are starting violence when blacks get jobs over them.

There are a few positives that have been gained after the war. Whites have been going on strike in fields such as steel working, and it is greatly affecting the nation's essential supplies. African Americans are working while whites
