A Utopia turned wrong would cause suspicion, discomfort, curiosity, anger, malevolent behavior and all loss for true love. Riots would occur turning civilized people to become savages and barbarians. Half of this is true for the country of Oceania. A Utopia that is not so perfect is depicted in George Orwell's famous novel, 1984. Some citizens are turned against the government and its officials when they discover the falsehoods and corrupt ideas of their Utopian government. Oceania citizen Winston Smith discovers the many false aspect of his society and tries to rise against this tainted government. The citizens of Oceania are stuck in helpless situations full of insane laws, are punished cruelly by a controlling government, and are ripped of their privacy and individualism.

The government of Oceania controls the citizens by imposing unjust laws and enforcing them through the Thought Police. Living in this kind of world would make anyone paranoid and cause a person to be very cautious of who they talk to. Citizens have to even be wary of their own children, which could be spies for the Thought Police. The 2 Minutes of Hate is a way Big Brother controls the citizens of Oceania, this way of life would make a person lose his or her individualism. A person would feel deprived of their thoughts. This obligation would make someone feel bereft and taken over. The dictionary of Oceania is constantly being reduced, minimizing the capabilities of rebellious thoughts. Using this futuristic language of Newspeak would be hard make your point or get your thought addressed which is the goal of this totalitarian government. Living in a futuristic world like this would leave anyone with a hopeless state of mind.

The people of this futuristic world are threatened and punished with unrealistic and cruel consequence for their crime. The people are demanded to hate Goldstein, leader of the Brother Hood and author of "The Book." Constant pictures of his wrong "evil doings" would make anyone hate him. This method would make people want to kill this person. The citizens of Oceania are made to believe they will become unhuman, erased from the surface of the Earth, if they do something wrong. Just the thought of this would make anyone want to be the perfect person. Any warily person in this situation would never want to do anything wrong. If any one is caught by the insidious Thought Police they are taken to the dreaded Ministry of Love, the treacherous Room 101. These places would make anyone feel callous.
