The Atkins diet is a well known diet. This magazine article starts off by discussing the mission of Dr. Robert Atkins diet. He believed that people should consume high fat and low carbohydrates. Many people who partake in this diet often misinterpret and think that he wants them to completely cut out a carbohydrate which isn't such a healthy idea. Dr. Robert Atkins was once quoted as saying, "Eat fat to lose fat. Drop carbohydrates-particularly bread, pasta, and potatoes, and shed pounds (Wells)." The media would just have a field day when he made comments like that.

This editorial simply written because Atkins Nutritionals which is company wanted people to know that they are changing its once straight-forward message. They want people to know that they should eat vegetables, fruits, and brown rice. The company said that diet was never made to be just all meat, which is why they specifically state that it's a low carb diet, not a no carb diet. The company is now packaging products that are low in carbohydrates. There are about 160 items that they sell such as: low carb ketchup, cereal through vendors such as Target and GNC (Wells). Of those total sales last year they made 148 million dollars (Wells).

In conclusion, the nutrition industry is a very competitive market. People are placing all types of products out there so individuals can try. The Atkins Nutritionals Company has planned

to compete by placing television and print advertisements. The want consumers to learn more about the Atkins diet, instead of people just jumping on the low carb bandwagon (Wells).

This article is written to discuss the reasons why researchers presume that a diet such as the Atkins diet, high in fat, low in carbohydrates can help a child suffering from epilepsy. They believe that seizures would be less frequent, by eating more protein and less carbohydrate. The earliest inclusive review of potential dietary treatments of epilepsy has recently been published (Agsalda). In the midst of those dietary regimens is the low carbohydrate Atkins Diet which has proven to be triumphant in containing epileptic seizures in a small series of patients.
