As a Public Relations person (PR) I agree with Wendy’s strategy. First, the company did a thorough investigation of its staff and supplier to ensure that the finger in the chili was not their fault. After realizing that the fault was not on their said they decided to investigate on where and how the finger got into the food with the help of the police stating “if there was a finger was there a body “this showed the companies concern for the community they lived in and ensuring that a thorough investigation was done, and because of their concern for their customers and community at large a reward was to be awarded to whoever could correctly identify the finger. This ensured that more people would participate in the solving of the case even though their clientele was depreciating.

Wendy during the whole process remained calm and never used their power as a large corporation to settle the matter with the smallest amount of public knowledge. Instead, they addressed each issue they faced on air and kept the public in the know about the investigation proceedings.

Even after the accusations made against Wendy were a hoax, they did not retaliate and turn the issue into a huge scandal and sue the woman for what she could never return instead a lot of maturity is seen from the company since they know they could never get back the money or clients lost instead they agreed that the plaintiff would never make any money through a book or movie deal.

As a PR person I think this was very wise. After realizing the fault was not on their said they decided to continue to investigate for the good of the community and didn’t retaliate harshly toward the Plantiff.

What impressed me the most during Wendy’s crisis was their ability to stay calm and put other peoples need before their own. This show how much the company values its customers and employees as the finger could have easily belonged to any of their stakeholders their need for the investigation
