Flaner O'Conner

Flannery O' Conner is the author of many classic American short stories. Most of her writings have strong religious values and talk about the 'dark' side of the world. She tries to send a message about how the moral values of people keep getting worse over time.

Flannery O' Conner's writings include strong religious beliefs and values. In "A Good Man is Hard to Find" the grandmother tries to talk the Misfit out of killing them by getting him to pray to Jesus. Through her writing it can be seen that O' Conner believes that if people would turn to Jesus than they would become a better person and all of the wrongs that they had committed would have been righted. O' Conner tries to make people better Christians through her writings. She portrays bad people as being unreligious to show people what becomes of them if they are unfaithful.

Towards the end of the story the characters seemed to realize their upcoming fate. This realization for their upcoming fate made the characters, especially the grandma; renounce their fate, hoping to be called to heaven when they are killed. The Misfit talking about his past made him appear even more psychotic than he initially led on to be.

Flannery O' Conner's writings are based upon religious beliefs and the moral values of the nation during the times of her writings. She uses character development to further prove her point, but also to make her stories more interesting to the readers. Her writings send messages to the readers about how morals, respect, and trust is taking a turn for the worse and needs to improve.
