1st Scene

At School, everyone talks and listens to the radio while waitig for the teacher. the teacher comes in through the back door.

Teacher: Good morning class,

Class: Good morning Mr. Johnson

Teacher: Please take out your history books and turn to pg._ to the hydrogen bomb. Before we get started on that, did anybody have any questions about last nights homework assignment. looks around, points to student Yes what is it Betty?

Crystal: This morning, during breakfast my dad was telling me that blacks are going to join us in school. Is that true?

Teacher: That’s correct, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, was a landmark decision of the United States Supreme Court, which overturned earlier rulings going back to Plessy v. Ferguson in 1896, by declaring that state laws that established separate public schools for black and white students denied black children equal educational opportunities. Handed down on May 17, 1954, the Warren Court's unanimous (9-0) decision stated that "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal." As a result, de jure racial segregation was ruled a violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Vince: Does that have anything to do with the woman that didn’t move from the bus?

Teacher: what are you two in the back talking about.

Ilian: We were just talking about how we just added two new states to the U.S., Alaska and Hawaii.

Teacher: Yes, well I don’t really see the point in obtaining more land the U.S. is large enough as is or a imperialistic government.

2 cops walk in and arrest teacher followed by the principal, teacher yells out.

Principal: Sorry kids but your teacher has been arrested for possibly being a communist. In a moment the police will be back to ask some questions.

Cop1: Has your teacher ever put down the government?

Lopez: sometimes.

Cop2: Has your teacher ever influenced you into taking part in communist activities?

Student: He talked to me about it one time.

Cop1: Communist! Quick grab him. Grabs him and takes student away.

Cop2: Remember kids Better Dead than Red. Exits

Principal: Glad that’s over with. You kids should have a new teacher by 2mro. bell rings See you kids 2mro.

Skyler: Yay new American teacher 2mro.

2nd Scene

Ilian: You guys won’t believe what I Just went out to buy!?!

Skyler: What?

Lopez: Yeah, tell us!

Crystal: I know what’s so important that you have to make a big deal out of it?

Vince: You know what Marylin, we don’t have all day.

Ilian: Well, I thought that it would be cool if I went out to buy the very first ever colored TV.

Skyler: Why would you waste all your money on that??

Lopez: I think that its really cool.

Vince: So where, is this so called TV that you bought at??

Ilian: Right here. Now I can watch all my favorite TV shows.

Skyler: Talking about TV shows lets watch The Honeymooners.

Lopez: No I really want to watch Lassie.

Crystal: Why don’t we watch Father Knows Best.

Vince: Let’s watch the news!!!!!!!

Ilian: How bout we watch what I want to watch.

Skyler: Let me guess... I Love Lucy?!?

Ilian: how on earth did you know??

Lopez: What channel is it?

Ilian: Its channel 16.

Lopez: Ok, I got the channel.

Crystal: Everybody grab a chair and watch.

Show I Love Lucy Clip

TV spokesperson: We interrupt this show for the following Message, if you haven’t already gotten your polio vaccine then you must get it soon! There have been recent outbreaks of a few people who have gotten it. It would be wise to get the shot pretty soon. Now back to the show.

3rd Scene

Crystal: Oh no! What should we do!!!

Vince: I heard that Polio is a really serious disease.

Skyler: I’m glad that I already got it.

Ilian: when did you get the shot and why didn’t you tell us?

Skyler: Golly, I didn’t think that it would be so important to you. The doctor didn’t seem to make a big deal about it a while back..

Lopez: What do you mean a while back??

Skyler: Well, my mom thought that it would a good precautionary, to be on the safe side.

Vince: where do you go to get this polio shot??

Skyler: how should I know, I don’t even know what polio is??

Vince: Polio is short for Poliomyelitis. It’s a viral infection of the nervous system and it affects the nerves that activate the muscles. This is a serious disease because it can kill you! At least 1 percent of patients become paralyzed. Often a mild disease with effects limited to the throat and intestine. Some people need to have a machine help them breathe due to the fact that their breathing muscles are affected by the polio disease.

Crystal: So what does the shot help with?

Vince: The shot helps so that it lessens the chance of you getting polio.

Lopez: I think we should all get
