Phillip Green

“I would hate to be stuck”. I tell myself this all the time to motivate myself to do better in school. I have been living in the New York City for most of my life and I know the how the harsh the real world can be, especially in the Bronx. Attending high school in an unfortunate area made me realize the path I wanted my life to take. My dreams play as fuel, allowing my mind to stay focus on my education.

Consequently, I began to understand the education is most valuable to my life. I took a while to understand that but now it was shown to me that education is a big key to a happy and complete life. My personal struggles have help me realize that I have power and control over my future than anyone else. I refused to allow my mother, brother or even my peers to dictate who I am willing to become.

Today, I would consider that point in time as my wake-up call. Learning about the educational past of my family made me push myself in wanting a meaningful degree than a high school diploma. I use my time wisely, engaged in my studies, exercising and playing organized football. My mother tells me to work hard inside as well as outside of school. I made a promise to myself that I was going to live a successful life and have a meaningful existence.

College is where my potential will allow my existence to take notice. The new environment as well as peers in will come to know, will not only help me grow an as individual but as someone who knows the true meaning of dedication and strive. Every step I take, I direct it toward the education I am able to receive. I look past my obstacles at my future because that is truly where my life is heading.
