Multimedia Take Home Exam

Proposal Ð'-

The first idea I had in mind for the website was to make a creative where consumers will enter a code they receive from the bottles and cans of the ZZZip drink. The consumer would have to create an account in the website and when ever they enter a new code in, a "ZZZip point" would be added to their status. The users can exchange these points for prizes such as game consoles and year supplies of ZZZip drinks. The users can however, use these points to play mini games against others such as online monopoly or mini golf to even card games to compete each others "ZZZip" points. They can set amount of points they would want to bet and the winner will acquire the loser. Also the acquired points will be multiplied by in game bonuses as the user plays more and he unlocks more features of the game. This is a addicting and easy way to acquire more points for exchanging with prizes later. Not only would this ensure users to keep in contact with the website and the ZZZip product, the users will be hooked on to acquiring more points by competing with each other.

The second idea was to create a social book marking website where users can submit interesting websites or news. The submitted content is than displayed on a preliminary page called "upcoming stories" where the content will reach the front page once it is deemed popular enough. Other uses can "ZZZip up" the content submitted by the submitter, therefore giving the website more reputation and gaining popularity. This system is similar to newly emerging and popular social book marking websites such as Digg. As the content gains reputation or "ZZZips", the submitter will also receive reputation points. However users can "ZZZip down" content that is deemed uninteresting or inappropriate. As users gain more reputation points, they receive special offers and prizes from the company such as free ZZZip drinks or mp3 players. This would be an effective way to encourage users to visit the website often and subliminally encourage them drink more ZZZip energy for all those late night browsing.

The third proposal involves the company to create weekly video casts that will show ZZZip drink representatives to do extreme or outrageous things to experimenting with ZZZip drinks. An example of a video cast would be doing stupid dares on each other relating to the ZZZip drink such as trying to make the drink come out of each other nose. Another example would be experimenting with the energy drink such as mixing with other drinks or putting Mentos in it to see if it will explode or not. Many teens enjoy these dares and experiments and will be quickly hooked on to these weekly video casts. The main idea however is to hold frequent contest where the consumers themselves will film themselves doing outlandish things and entering it on to the contest. Each contest will have a different themes and situations for users to film themselves with. The videos posted by users can be viewed freely by others. User can vote and rate these videos to decide who the winner of the contest should be. Prizes can range from game consoles to vacations to fun places.

Plan Ð'-

I decided to adopt the video cast idea since it seems unique and original. I have yet to see an Energy Drink selling company having video casts or experimenting with their products through the use of an interesting cast. Two post-teens around the age of 24 can host these video casts. This cast, being fresh from their teen years can relate to the teen audience and are able to entertain them through dares, stunts, experiments, and overall outrageous things teens would generally enjoy. The entire project, including both the video cast ad the website, will be managed by a product manager to ensure everything is in order.

First the team would need to come up with a rough idea for the whole project. The main features of the website would be:

Frequent VideoCasts Ð'- 2 people will represent the whole series doing various things in the video related to the ZZZip energy drink

Poll and Discussions Ð'- Users can post messages and discuss what the cast in the next video should do

Video Contests Ð'- A contest will be held every 2 weeks or so that will encourage users to post their own videos doing bets or experiments the contest instructions will provide. Once submitted, other uses can vote which video is the winner and the submitting team of the winning video will receive prizes.

A prototype of the website would have to be created. Hiring web designers to create the layout of the webpage, content experts to decide upon what the upcoming video should be about, graphic designers to make the website looks exciting that will catch the users attention but readable at the same time. We would also need a cast, director, and video professionals to film the weekly video casts and edit them in time for broadcasting.

Some of the design considerations of the website are:

Content

-The website's main page will display the latest videocast. Users will be able to comment on the video which would be displayed under the video. The website won't have much readable information but rather the videocasts to deliver the content.

-Another page would include be the discussion page where users can vote videos and suggest ideas

-User submitted videos can be viewed through the video portal where all the videos uploaded will be archived.

-Other pages can include the usuals such as the companies contact information

Character

-The overall character of the webpage would be laid back and excited at the same time where uses can just relax and watch Videocasts while taking it light-hearted.

-To follow this, the characters in the videocast would also be laid back when not performing stunts or excited from unusual experiments with the drink

Purpose

-The purpose of the website
