London Choice

Living in London for a summer would offer many opportunities. If my boss was to take me out to show me the city from a "Londoners" perspective and then canceled, I would choose to carry out my night with that in mind anyway. Of the options presented, I would choose to attend an early round tennis match at Wimbledon because of my love of athletics and the history of the event; A sampling of London's culinary delights would be the least appealing choice to me because I believe it's an experience I can have elsewhere.

Wimbledon was started in 1877 and some of the greatest athletes in the world have played on its Centre Court. Since it was founded, the stadium has endured a bomb ripping through it (World War II). Though I do not play tennis, I am interested in the sport. I also have a love for history, so seeing an event here would combine two of my loves.

Because of the stadium's location, I would still be able to see some of the city en route to the stadium. Once there, my ninth row seat would offer an experience that would be hard to find anywhere else. From that location, I would be high enough in the stands to see everything, but low enough to hear what the athlete's are saying and feel as if I'm right there with them.

The icing on the cake for this deal is the opportunity to see a seeded player compete and the strawberries and crÐ"Ёme. This year's Wimbledon tournament starts June 23, so by the time I arrived in July it would be somewhere between the third round and quarter-finals. This means when I see a seeded player compete I will be seeing that athlete compete against good competition, which should make for an exciting match. If I am somehow not entertained by the match being played just feet in front of me, the Wimbledon classic of strawberries and crÐ"Ёme will be worth the trip itself and gives enough of a sample of the London food traditions that I can safely say option C, enjoy London's culinary delights, is the most undesirable to me.
