Ramon Magsaysay born on August 31, 1907 is the seventh president of the Philippines who also known as the “Champion of the Masses” . He served the Philippines from December 30, 1953 until his death in an aircraft disaster .

Ramon Magsaysay is a humble mechanic who became the president of the Philippines. He surely was not perfect for every people . One thing for sure is that the greatness he has shown will always overtake the mistakes and issues he had encountered during his time.

The president has done barrio to barrio campaigns in order to obtain the trust and concerns of the people . This activity opened his eyes even more to the issues of the country. He was not one of those people from the government who played deaf to the calls of those in need. Magsaysay would listen to the problems of the common people for atleast two to three times a week. In fact, he established the president complaints and action committee to make sure that the complaints of the masses were taken care of. This body immediately proceeded to hear grievances and recommend remedial action. This committee would come to hear nearly sixty thousand complaints in a year, of which more than thirty thousand would be settled by direct action and a little more than twenty-five thousand would be referred to government agencies for appropriate follow up. This new entity composed of youthful personnel, all loyal to the president, proved to be a highly successful morale booster restoring the people’s confidence in their own government.

He was selfless leader who gave land to the landless. He has done this through national resettlement and rehabilitation administration. This body took helped in the giving some sixty-five thousand acres to three thousand indigent families for settlement purposes. Again ,it allocated some other twenty-five thousand to a little more than one thousand five hundred landless families ,who subsequently became farmers. If he had not died ,he could save poor people in rural and urban area out of illegal settlement places and even give them a job. This achievement of him could solve three problems: the illegal settler problems ,job employment problems and lack of farmers.

He acted as the voice of those who did not have to voice to speak out for their concerns. After hearing such concerns ,he immediately takes action by implementing several projects for the poor. He is also the one who gave freedom to choose the system of tenancy under which they would want to work, which is done through the agricultural tenancy act in 1954 and the land reform act of 1955. Through this act many entities and cooperatives grants by the government a credits of million dollars that really boosts the economy of the Philippines. Finally ,irrigation projects were made ,as well as Power Plants that bring the rural improvement program into reality advocated by President Magsaysay. So by these projects of him could make a big impact in the production of rice in the Philippines that is currently suffering from lackness of supply. Not just for the production of rice but the overall agriculture of the Philippines could grow a lot. These could also boosts our product exportations. More product ,more impact to grow to our economy.

During his time there was a group called Hukbalahap . Both the previous presidents struggled to stop the rebellion. Magsaysay was appointed as the new Secretary of National Defense that time. As a new appointee, Magsaysay did what his predecessor failed to do: He identified the root and cause of the problem and started from there. He transformed and reconstructed the Armed Forces that time because
