Frida Kahlo's, The Love Embrace of the Universe, is what I believe to be her interpretation of love. I see many forms of love in this particular painting, one form within another.

The first form I recognized was the background of the painting. There is a half dark and half light object with human qualities, holding all of the other forms in the painting. I saw this form as the Universe. I came to this conclusion because the light and dark halves could symbolize night and day. There is also a moon on the dark half and a sun on the light half.

Secondly, I noticed the Universe holding a woman with roots, trees, an animal, and other various plants growing off of her body. The plants that are growing off this woman are Mexican plants and vegetation. This female figure could symbolize Earth. The Earth is within the Universe.

Thirdly, the Earth is holding a woman, who I assume to be Frida Kahlo. Frida Kahlo is sitting within the Earth gracefully. The expression on her face is content. She doesn't seem to be happy or unhappy.

Lastly, Frida is holding a male figure. She seems to be very nurturing to the male. This male figure could be a son, brother, father, grandfather, husband, boyfriend, or friend. Whoever this male figure is, she must love him dearly. She holds him very close to her, as if, she doesn't want him to slip away. He has a third eye on his forehead, which has been known to be a symbol of wisdom.

In conclusion, I see many forms of love within another. The above is what I see in the painting, The Love Embrace of the Universe; by Frida Kahlo.
