Book: Amazing Alphabet Book

Author: Dr. Seuss

ISBN: 0-679-88281-2

Publisher: Random House

The plot of my book is very simple. It is an alphabet book that is intended to help children learn the alphabet. It gives the letters in order and 3-4 words that begin with that letter and pictures for the children to easily understand the letters. It goes in order from A-Z which is the best way to help a child learn his or her ABC’s. It also gives the capital letter and the lower case letter to help them understand the difference. There are many colorful pictures that go along with the letters. This keeps the kids interested when they have pictures to look at to help understand what they are learning.

The book does a wonderful job of giving the children a visual of the letters and what might begin with that letter. The book is very colorful which attracts children at young ages. Some of the pictures are silly to make the child laugh or stay interested in learning their alphabet. When I say the illustrations are silly for example, the very first letter “A” stands for alligator and the picture shows a little old lady riding an alligator like it is her pet. Or the letter “C” has a picture of a camel walking on the ceiling and we all know that would never happen in real life but it does in Dr. Seuss books. Even a kangaroo flying a kite in one of the pictures, I’m sure would make a little kid laugh. Dr. Seuss’s books always try to make learning and reading fun for children growing up. He really grabs the attention of young children. All the fantasy pictures make the children want to learn and read when it is fun like that. The book also mixes things up from time to time, it’s not your average book A is for Apple, and B is for Boat and C is for Cat so on. It is fun like Willy is in the Washtub Washing Waldo or a Yawning Yellow Yak with Yolanda on his back. These types of scenarios makes the book fun to learn and isn’t so boring. It changes the look on learning when a different approach is taken

This book taught me to realize how learning in a fun way is so important for children today. A child doesn’t want to sit and look at letters and words in
