Walden's Quote
One thins in life that I always remember is to hear my own drum. I do what I am told to do, but I do them in my own way. In Walden's Pond, Walden says, "If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." I have three ways of looking at this quote. These three ways are to be a leaser and not a follower, never do what my friends do just to fit in, and to step up for what I believe in.
I will always be a leader and not a follower. This is what I have learned from past experiences with my friends. Being a follower is a way for my friends and other people to take advantage of me, but by being a leader it will give me the advantage to have control over my thoughts and over how I am treated as a person. It will teach be to always be myself no matter what other say or how they act. To be a leader is easy, I must always be myself and do things as I believe are correct.
One reason why I am such a strong person is because I never do what my friends do just to fit in. I don't think that being like everyone else is cool. I believe that being unique and doing my own thing makes me a better person and helps me succeed in life. It also makes me grow to be independent and responsible. It helps me fight temptations and gets me through the rough times. Walden's work leaves a great influence on my life.
What I learned as I got older is to always step up for what I believe in. When I was younger I always agreed on everything my parents said and did even if I felt it was wrong or disagreed. As I got older I realized that if I continued on doing this I would never have my own thought, my own feelings, or my own agreement on anything that went on in my life. That is why I am so forward and eager now. I am more forward
