Witches Are Not Real
About 400 years after the Salem witch trials, In Uige, Angola, kids are being falsely accused of being witches and being controlled by Satan. A lot of the kids are barley teenagers. Angola is located in south central Africa.
A 12 year old boy, Domingos Pedro, was accused of being a witch when his dad mysteriously passed away. Domingos’s relatives suspended him on the rafters of their clay home one afternoon and started accusing him of being a witch. They wanted him to confess to murdering his father. Telling them what they wanted to hear just to save himself from being beaten, his family ignored his plea. There are many cases of this in Uige.
On the flip side, in Salem, a group of girls were accusing various adults and elderly people in their community of being witches. Since it was such a big group of girls, they all fallowed Abigail. Abigail was “the leader” of all the girls. They made it very convincing up to a certain point. A lot of it just doesn’t seem logical now, but back then, they didn’t know as much stuff, so it could have been more plausible.
In both places the people who were convicted of being witches were casted out of the community. In the Crucible they just took it one step further and hung the so called “witches”. In Uige, the kids have to live on their own, out on the streets. All in all, the people got treated nearly the same.
