Marijuana is a drug a don't forget that. There could never be a chance for this drug to be legal it is a gateway drug, to many more harmful drugs. If it was to be legalized more people would have the chance to do this, and more people would try it. These points clearly suggest why this drug can never be legalized. But there is an alternative to make both sides happy, the choice of decrminilizing it.

This mean that marijuana would still be illegal but, those caught smoking would only receive a ticket, not the penalty of jail and job sanctions. But as for drug dealers and manufacturers that are caught, they will receive the same penalty of jail time and job sanctions.

If Legalizaton of marijuana was to occur, the government would step in and take care of all distribution. A few things that the government would do, would be to place age restrictons on who could buy or smoke legalized marijuana. Also the government would become very strict on the taxation of marijuana probably higher than that of tobacco.

Decriminalization, on the other hand is perhaps preferred over the legalization of marijuana. If marijuana were decriminalized then it would be considered a herb and not a drug, much like parsley, sage, marjoram, and oregano.

The legalization of marijuana is a topic of heated debate the world over. As of this writing, there are NO places left where the legalization of marijauna is in effect. Though tolerated, It is even illegal in Holland.

Where other than Holland is it tolerated? One of the most celebrated places is Amsterdam and though the legalization of marijuana hasn't happened as yet, places like Australia, India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Morocco and others do show greater tolerance. In the U.S., California is very laid back about it, especially San Francisco.
