What is Windows Forms Application

Windows Forms (WinForms) is a graphical (GUI) class library included as a part of Microsoft .NET Framework, providing a platform to write rich client applications for desktop, laptop, and tablet PCs.

Windows Forms Designer is a tool, in Visual Studio.NET, used to insert controls in a form and arrange them as per desired layout, with provision for adding code to handle their events, which implement user interactions.

A windows form application is an application, which is designed to run on a computer. It will not run on web browser.

Why WFA?

In a real-life scenario, team normally use Visual Studio and C# to create either Windows Forms or Web-based applications.

Testers usually create "Test" projects like unit test project or coded UI project.

However, the usage of WFA can be extended to testing stream which makes test execution simpler with few button clicks and can be done by anyone including non-technical and business users because of it's "easy to use" interface

How to create a windows forms application

The Toolbox displays icons for controls and other items that you can add to Visual Studio projects.

To open the Toolbox, click Toolbox on the View menu.

Toolbox icons can be dragged to a design view which adds the control to the form.

Few common controls are button, checkbox, combobox, label, radiobutton, tabcontrol, textbox.

Controls are objects that are contained within form objects. Each type of control has its own set of properties, methods, and events
