What happened to the days of typewriter? What is happening to the electric typewriter? It will not be surprising to say that a brand new personal computer as soon as it touches the table it becomes obsolete.

ICT (information communication technology) changes are visible in many aspects of our lives. The revolution is surrounding everywhere. It is changing how we communicate, learn, store, retrieve and seek entertainment. Our work environments are no exception. There be differences in the level of impact at various sectors, but the changes are apparent everywhere. Learning challenges originating from frequent ICT changes cannot be considered just a generational issue as these technologies possess cognitive characteristics that make learning them a non-trivial effort. Frequent changes witnessed presently add another layer of difficulty with almost constant knowledge obsolete and knowledge update requirements.

It will amaze you to know that even cleaners might not have a place in the near future should technology advance at the pace it is going, how much the ability to communicate effectively.

Events and events are happening so rapidly that one wonders the rate at which things are changing and taking shape. So much that the needs to process retrieve and store information is taking drastic changes. One might not give an adequate account of how these changes are taking place. However, the following will help create an awareness of what an individual should expect in the near future.

Are you aware that the workplace is taking a new dimension? Organisations are looking for ways to reduce redundancy and maximise workforce management and productivity. The quest is that, how fast can information be processed, sent, retrieve and returned at minimal error and to achieve desired satisfaction.

The workforce is taking into the dimension of mobile workforce. The number of mobile workers is growing dramatically, and will represent more than 70% of U.S workforce and 30% of the total workforce worldwide by 2011. A by product of this growth is the expansion of the workday, as mobile and other remote workers have- and increasingly need-24/7 access to the most current company information and application resources.
