How should we view the legacy of Christopher Columbus?

Christopher Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492. He came over from Spain in three ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria to discover new land, but he was eager for wealth and power. Christopher Columbus is a voyager who was borned in Italy and lived his life in Spain. His voyage started in Spain and ended in the America’s. The big idea of this paper is to understand if we should see Christopher Columbus’ voyage and journey as a search for land and a new home, or to search for wealth and power. Christopher Columbus was first in Spain as he was commanded to leave in order to find new land as a discovery, in the passage Honoring Christopher Columbus by Warren H. In another source called Christopher Columbus: Hero or Villain by B. Myint, he states that Christopher Columbus stood to gain significant wealth and power. Unfortunately he didn’t get much wealth or much power from his voyage which probably made him upset, but he had a new home, and a discovery that made him known to today’s world. Christopher Columbus did not look like he had a positive legacy for himself because he didn’t go to America to discover and only went to America to try to gain wealth and power.

Christopher Columbus had a positive legacy because Christopher Columbus was known to discover America even though he was not the first, but many people till today think that his discovery helped America grow in succeeding and population. People think if the three
