The Female Sex

Being a female has its ups and downs just like everything else in the world but I would never want to be anything else. I love my gender and although sometimes it is more a curse than a blessing, I’d take the curses on any day to stay the way I am.

One of the best things about being a girl is being able to multitask. I did not realize how good we are at it until I started dating my boyfriend two years ago. He was having a hard time holding a conversation and driving which I found rather frightening and I said to myself “Wow we really are better!” Of course I really did not understand the why that was but once I read Why Men Don’t Listen and Women Can’t Read Maps I found out it was because they are very single minded people due to their job back in the hunting days. Another, not so important, thing that females are good at is finding things. Men usually look at one thing at a time while women have more a wide range of vision. We can scan things while men have to look at every individual item. One very interesting thing about women is that their corpus callosum is thicker which people think is the reason women have intuition or emotional intelligence which may be why women can tell the truth from a lie more than males can. The brain of a woman is superior as far as memory and aging goes. Women have much better memory for lists and names/faces than men do and the female brain shrinks slower with age than a male brain. This slow aging of the brain gives women a longer time period for memory, ability to pay attention, ability to stay out of depression, and are less irritable. One great blessing of women is that they get to have children, they get to have the initial connection to their child and feel more connected emotionally right after birth than males.

With females, you have to take the bad with the good. One of the worst things about being a female is getting your period. It is not only a huge hassle but it also hurts and comes at the most inconvenient time like prom or the first day you get on vacation. I know that it is the reason we can have children but it sucks to put it frankly. I think one of the most aggravating things about being female is you are judged solely on how you look most times. If there is a job interview where one girl is fat and the other is like Barbie but the heavier girl is more qualified, they are more apt to take the Barbie clone than to take the heavier set girl because most people in the work place are male. Women are suppose to wear certain clothes and if you don’t, you will be shunned by other women. Your clothes are twice as expensive as men’s clothes and anything related to women, the cost is ridiculous. For instance, men can get their underwear, good underwear, in packs of 10-12 while one decent piece of underwear cost a woman seven dollars. One of the most annoying things about being a woman is being the only sex that will change the toilet paper roll in the bathroom. I mean is it really that hard? I don’t know one male that has actually done that themselves unless they live alone but once they live with a woman, they miraculously forget how to do it. One of the most frustrating things about being a woman is losing weight is much harder. Women
