Teenage abortion and consulting their parents

Abortion in the United States is a highly debated topic. People disagree not only with the legal aspect of abortion, but also it's moral consequences. Because both the questions of legality and morality define whether or not abortion should be legal, the result is a highly disputed issue. The problem of abortion among teenagers adds another dimension to the already controversial topic. Which is whether parental notification is necessary or not. Thirty-two states have parental consent laws that require a minor to obtain at least one parent consent for they're to have an abortion. Only two states and the District of Columbia have laws affirming the right of young women to have an abortion with out parental consent. (CB, Ch12, pg350). Well my value also agrees with the thirty-two states. I believe that Parents should be notified by the clinic if a teen woman attempts to access abortion services. My opinion is due to the daughter health, medical pill for parents and physical and psychological risks after the abortion.

Teenage women, abortion and law abortion has always been a very controversial, evoking issue. This can be due to the fact that people have different beliefs that are emphasized by their own religion and set of moral circumstances. Because of the wide spectrum of religion and various moral beliefs, there will never be a right or wrong answer to abortion but there will always be different side of opinions. I feel that parents should not be informed that their teen is requesting an abortion because it will lead to more teenagers giving birth to unwanted children, unsafe and illegal abortions, infant abandonment, and even worse, infant murder

For teenagers facing abortion, it is a psychological, social, and philosophical dilemma that must be encountered. Teen abortion is a decision that will impact your life dramatically, whether you decide to abort or decide to give birth. People you know will choose to support your decision or condemn your decision, but this is your decision and you will live with the choice you make. I don't think that teenage girls are mature enough to make their own decision about and abortion. Being physiologically able to conceive a child doesn't mean the girl is mature enough to make a major decision. Minors often need their parents to sign school report cards and approve school field trips. So why should abortion be an exception? Thus I believe girls need parents' approval as well as any other approval they have to do because they are minors.

I believe that parents are responsible for paying the medical bills incurred with any complication following the abortion. Therefore, they should be informed of the abortion decision, to protect teenage girls from potentially dangerous medical situations before, during and after an abortion. Access to abortion is limited; eighty-seven percent of all counties in the U.S. have no identified abortion provider (Section 11: class reader 103, sp.05). Parents must give consent for other medical procedures excluding emergencies. Parental involvement laws decrease the risk of medical complications connected with the abortion by allowing parents to provide important medical information and history their daughter may not know or provide. Parental involvement increases the likelihood the teenager will receive the needed follow-up care after the abortion. And just because abortion is legal doesn't guarantee it is safe. Parental involvement is the best way to protect the life and health of teenage girls.

To ensure teenage girls benefit from the best possible aftermath like physical, emotional, and psychological of abortion. They need their parents to be informed and involved. It is indefensible for government which can legal require parental involvement to, by default, encourage girls to exclude their parents during this time in their lives.

Some teenagers face physical danger from angry parents. Even thought that laws that requires parental notification and consent for abortion assume that all parents are loving, responsible, and capable of having their daughters' best interest at heart. Sadly this is not the case for abusive and neglectful parent (CB, ch.12,Pg350). But if this is the case the child can appeal in a court and present her family situation thus she could go through the abortion with out the quilt and unprofessional doctors. Others are pregnant due to rape or incest and cannot tell their parents. So by enforcing parental notification, the girls who are the victim of incest will have secret abortions and then return to the same home environment, risking continued abuse.

About two years a go my cousin have gotten pregnant and had an abortion with out any one known until she was sick to death after ward. She was 15 years old, and was not even allowed to date until she was 16. She has been dating and accidentally has gotten pregnant. Because she felt that it will be a disappointment to her parents and to the rest of the family she made up stories to go to our youngest untie house for the weekends, down south. Because our auntie was young she allowed her to spend a night out with her friends, what she didn't know was that my cousin had planned

to have an abortion. All her plans worked out as she planned

besides her being sought for the next 3 months. Her mom found out at the hospital when she took her to the hospital because when she came back from our auntie's
