. This essay will detail the significance of motivation and group cohesion in the game of volleyball. The essay will investigate the aspects of motivation and cohesion on my team as well as analyze the team on a psychological level and the effects on their physical performance. It can be revealed in my team that there is one aspect positive, helping our performance, and one aspect negative hindering our routine.

The motivational effects of being part of a team seem to be particularly important in determining how well a team performs. Motivation is at a high standard in accordance to Alderman's questionnaire; throughout my team motivation (aim) is high. This means that all team members are heading in the same direction and our focus in the game of volleyball is more on team spirit, motivation and doing our best. Also Alderman's success results prove that as a team we have high ego motivation, which is similar to Aim. However we are concerned with extrinsic rewards such as trophies, money or recognition.

The Alderman's questionnaire is designed to measure the levels of motivation present in individuals, but does not measure how motivated you but what are the factors that motivate you to participate in physical tasks. The team's results of the Alderman's questionnaire are as follows:

Aim: Every team member shows a high level of internal motivation.

Power: There doesn't seem to be a dominate person, however Anjie scored the highest compared to the rest.

Stress: The results indicate that the team enjoys high stress situations but Nick's results show that he doesn't like them.

Independence: The team dislikes individual situations as there is no player over 4. This result rates well with volleyball.

Success: Generally team demonstrates high level of motivation but we are concerned about rewards and winning the game not how well we play.

Aggression: There is a low level of aggression among the team. This is good for volleyball as there s no one over three.

Affection: The team has a high affiliation level which mirrors the independence results. If there is good affiliation equals teamwork.

Through my teams physical performance motivation has a positive impact. This is shown through the alderman's results and how each team member interacts with one another. My team encourages one another so that we can achieve our best, even if we miss the ball or make a mistake we still strive to motivate one another and hope it will help our team become stronger and have a closer game relationship

Social cohesion refers to how much team members like being around each other. Our team is very high on social cohesion, were we are all
