HOW CAN CHILDREN CONTRIBUTE TO WORLD PEACE?

The word peace is an immortal word which refers to calmness, happiness, justice, pacifism, love and serenity amongst people of different races and religions and the absence of war, violence and hostility. World Peace is the freedom of living and a life filled with peace and concord among all nations of the world and the absence of war between people and governments of different countries. Everyone likes peace and prays for it, as it is beneficial to all. World peace is now becoming day by day a major concern for all political leaders and governments due to its growing importance over other alarming factors such as climate change; it is, as it seems, useless to fight climatic changes and its consequences when war and racism prevails everywhere and hundreds of people are dying due to political instability, war and racism, which all form part of the factors acting against world peace. It is futile having a good temperate climate when terrorism, rioting and discrimination are striking in every corner of the globe and thousands of people are being killed. So, the great importance of world peace cannot be stressed enough. Several countries are working very hard on the matter so as to develop a sense of solidarity and concern regarding the matter.

I think that the general Mauritian population must consider itself lucky to be living in such a peaceful and harmonious environment, and a cool and relaxed atmosphere. It is not hard to feel that advanced sense of freedom and exemption in our daily lives. These aspects are applicable for the majority of our fellow countryman in recent times, though exceptions do exist. But due to all this, criminality, vandalism, corruption, discrimination, white-collar crimes and political and government influence still do exist, but at least our situation has not and will definitely probably not reach that of countries such as somalia, palestine, iraq and pakistan, where the ex-prime minister was recently murdered. At our school also I have pointed out that there is a kind of discrimination, a kind of politics or hierarchy or whatever you call it, that allows a small portion of students to get that extra degree of consideration by teachers or school officials that grants them exceptional privileges and allowances, which I sincerely think should be re-considered, for most of the times less-able students who are unable to express themselves are left to manage out on their own. This is some sort of injustice, which children can fight against, so as to liberate the right of expression and to express world peace.

Concerning children , I believe that they are the genuine and matchless ambassadors of peace, honesty and harmony. They are innocent and innocuous bright creatures whose minds are very less-likely to be corrupted with evil thoughts such as intolerance, prejudgment, racism, discrimination, ego, pride and violent attitudes. Instead they have bright and sharp little brains which can be filled with good thoughts, feelings, understanding and tolerance for others. This is where parents enter, as responsible individuals they should care about educating their lads about good topics such as world peace. Children of today are much more intelligent, sharp, motivated, creative and modern than before. They are very resourceful and can do a lot of things if they that will power. They have got what it takes. When it comes to world peace, youngsters of today are very much concerned about the subject. They want their future to be bright and peaceful, and they wish to bury things such as terrorism and hostility forever. They hope to create a non-violent world where it is pleasant and good to live. There are many things that children can do to promote the good culture of world peace, love and harmony.

Firstly they can write and perform sketches and plays on world peace during important social gatherings. In these plays, they can include the actions that people do to disturb world peace through their daily actions. Thus the audience may realize how bad it is to be acting against world peace.

Children can easily compose and sing songs or recite poems which transmit the message of world peace through nice and attractive rhymes, phrases, music and tones. In these compositions they can include in what ways people are suffering due to wars and violence and how world peace can be the right solution for them. People will be greatly moved and inspired by such songs, especially if they are performed by children. A well-known example could be the evergreen and still-popular 1985-song “we are the world we are the children” by Michael Jackson. I still cherish that song, and i'm sure you do as well.

Children can group together and broadcast a message of peace on the radio or television or in the newspaper. This is a great way to propagate the culture of world peace. After listening or watching these children , the whole population will think twice before acting against the personal peace of someone or something. Questions will emerge: Why can't adults, who are mature, emphasize the importance of world peace, when these children, younger and less-mature, are understanding peace so much that they are moving forward to promote it.

A group of dynamic children can either do a regional door-to-door campaign participate and help in a national campaign or manifestation which is intended to make maximum number of people give a helping hand in the dissemination of world peace. If the campaign is timely and rightly organized, on a yearly basis for example, more and more people will be interested in maintaining world peace and in reducing violent acts and wars. This campaign may greatly help to make people aware of the beneficiary effects of world peace.

Children can deliver talks themselves or they can arrange for experts to deliver a speech on the subject. The speech may be on world peace , how to help preserving it, its various advantages. The event can take place where it is accessible to the a great portion of the population such as social and municipal halls or community centres with the help and support of local officials.

Children nowadays are very creative, inventive and imaginative. They can show their great talent by designing colourful, attractive and influential posters and advertisements on world peace, with the only goal to promote world peace through their originative minds. They may also make use of peace flags, badges and stickers.

Children must definitely show adults that they are the true and authentic promoters of world peace through their lifestyles full of tolerance, peace, harmony, honesty, friendliness, justice and serenity. Their lives rarely
