"Marijuana is a drug obtained from dried and crumpled part of the ubiquitous hemp plant Canabis sativa." There is an estimated amount of 200,000,000 of people who consume marijuana for pleasure, relaxation, medical use, or just an escape from reality as they say. Others feel no effects. However marijuana also causes damage to the body and brain of the consumer.

Should marijuana be legalized in the US? This question has become a big issue for the US government and citizens. There are people who think it should be legal, and the government telling them what they may and may not consume at home is an invasion of personal privacy. On the other hand it is the government's job to protect the civilian's health. Marijuana should not be legalized because of the health risks that contain its use.

Not legalizing the sale would make it more difficult for others to purchase the drug; it would decrease its consume and the frequency of addiction. The reduce of marijuana would be less health risks; slowed brain functions, cancer, being injured in an accident where the driver was under the influence. "If marijuana remains illegal, fewer people will go into debt to buy drugs, thus decreasing the amounts the government will pay for the social assistance of these addicts".

Should it be legal for those over the age of eighteen? - Many teenagers are not even capable to make responsible decisions for themselves. "Health risk related to the use of drugs is a factor regardless of age." We would have more people with addiction problems, consequently there would be more people in rehabilitation programs and all that money would come from the federal tax and the government.

"Marijuana should be legalized only for those individuals who require it for medicinal purposes, and with a physician's consent." But then again the use of it as a pain control could cause the patients to rely on the drug,
