Blindness is can come in a few different forms for example legally blind, low vision and completely blind. Legally blind is where a person can be considered blind if they can only see up to 6 six metres, if vision is less than 20 degrees diameter or see only shapes and outlines of things. Most normal people can see up to 60 metres, have a good field of vision (that is more than 20b degrees) and be able to see clearly. What low vision is, is when a person has a permanent loss of vision, which cannot be fixed by just getting glassed and can be bad to their daily life. Complete blindness is where a person has complete lack of vision cannot see light, figures or shapes or anything. In 2013 there was estimated to be around 357,000 people in Australia who are blind or with low vision. Some causes of blindness are glaucoma, diabetes, macular degeneration and accidents/ injuries that have happen to the eye. Some cause of partial blindness can be cataracts, strokes, tumours and Retinitis pigmentosa.

Problems with when using a computer with blindness is that you cannot physically feel the screen to read things, Computers cannot produce braille. This can be a problem blind people when using the internet because they don’t know what they doing on website due to blind people not being able to feel the screen. Blind people can only use the internet if they have friend to read what on the screen or assist them when web surfing. Most websites do not have audio over text or even an audio button beside it for blind people to listen to, other things on website that can be an issue to blind people are images blind people cannot see images can are sometimes hard for people to describe, videos some video do not come with descriptive audio because the video creator relies on the user being able to see and hear. Another issue for low vision people is really small text, small text can be an issue to people because smaller text is harder to read and some people may not be able to read it or fix it so they can read it.

Product and resources that can be used to fix this problem is braille keyboards, screen readers and refreshable braille displays. Braille keyboard are special keyboard that have rather than English letters it has braille letters on it, these can become very useful because now blind people can actually type on keyboard, write emails, write assignment and even type in URLs to websites.
