Human needs to eat different types of food to maintain body health and gain energy. There are many nutritions contained with food, that affect our body health diectly. With the fast development of our society, people emphasize more the quality of foods ,nutrition value, body health , GM foods and develop some issue on this side.In the below paragraphs, I am going to talk about several sides of this topic.

A healthy diet means eating a wide variety of food include, grain and cereal products ,fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy products, fish, meat ,etc ,with less fat ,less sugar and less salt and without getting too many calories or too much of any one nutrient to help maintain or improve general health.

However ,not many people can achieve healthy diet .In Hong Kong ,more than 50%(total 4500) people don't achieve health diet such as eat irregularly, absorb too much sugar. Citizen get sick because of unhealthy diet, such as obesity , heart disease ,etc.

In Hong Kong, teenagers and workers don't have a regular balanced diet caused by their job and entertainment. Most of them have to meet friends or clients from dines many times once a day and seldom spend attention on their diets. Eating too much and high danger foods lead to unhealthy diet. That totally affects their health to render related disease and obesity. 38.0% of the population aged 18 - 64 were classified as overweight and obese.

In this situation ,if we cannot regular our dining time, we should eat less to avoid geting too much energy ,oil and salt. So, people can try asking food industry less rice and less oil or salt.Besides, food industry can promote more nutrient menu and healthy food ,such as vegetable salad, unpolished rice.In addition, they can join the save food day which is held by government. If customers who request''Less Rice'',which can enjoy$1 incentive to make people don't eat too much.

On the other hand, people can dine in vegetarian restaurant.Today vegetarian restaurant provide delicious but healthy cuisine, that contains with less oil, salt and sugar but much more fibre. It can helps control weight and the risk of getting related diseases. Also, many vegetarian restaurants supply Chinese food therapy(medicinal foods)such as ,sugar cane (竹蔗 zhúzhè), Imperata arundinacea, prunella vulgaris L,haw, etc to maintain people health in chinese way.

There is one more factor which is food industry. In Hong Kong, fast food shops such as McDonalds(229) ,KFCs(59) are around Hong Kong ,They provide fast, cheap and tasteful food service. At the same time, they always promote new products to attract more guests. Even though foods are high salt, oil , calorie ,sugar(Rubbish food), all these factors cater to busy people and most students as their meal ,especially after financial tsunami.

From the above examples ,it reflects the food industry always influence our health. There are numerous food industries in Hong Kong, which provide a convenient method to citizen dine out. According to research from Department of Health , more than 40% of the people in Hong Kong at least five days per week during lunch dining out, more than 90% of the respondents want the healthier choice of dishes in the meal. However, between 12 years old and over people, 84.5% and 53.9% of them thought food industries provide few fruit and vegetable of meal and 60.1%,40.9% and 27.2% thought there are too much oil, salt and sugar.

To improve citizen 's health ,eat smart restaurant campaign is approached ,which is a major health promotion program of the Department of Health in collaboration with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. To become an elighble EatSmart Restaruant ,food premises have to pass an assessment and ensure they offer "More Fruit and Vegetable"and"3 less" less oil, less sugar and less salt Dishes on a regular basis.

I believe this trend not just improve people's health ,but also make merits to food industries. Food industries are identified as customer-centric business operators that respond positively to the health needs of their clients and enhance nutritional knowledge, cooking skills and product quality. It helps promote a health positive value of people diet.

However, there are just 670restaurants in Hong Kong have this sign ,which aren't enough. I suggest government should allocate more recourse to modern and affordable restaurants, especially school area , fast food shop and business and high demand area such as Monk Kok ,Central. On the other hand, government should promote more information about 'eating smart' to everyone, to increase the demands of EatSmart Restaruant from people.

Many restaurants in Hong Kong are old fashion or theme restaurant ,such as noodle shop & braised foods industry. It is difficult achieve "eating smart" and remain revenue at the same time. However, government can help develop nutritional menu to old food industry and Cantonese restaurant for providing more choices of healthy food and transforming the 3 Less concept to them.
