Tom is a likely candidate to be chosen to be allowed a work permit in Canada. Tom scored very high on his test scores because he comes from America where we share similar traits and culture. America is an English speaking country, has a similar education system to Canada, has a similar legal system and is culturally very similar. Tom isn’t looking to become a Canadian citizen as he wants to remain an American. He would positively benefit our economy because he sees the opportunity to grow a business and make money in Canada. His business will benefit not only him but Canada and Canadians as well. Tom will be creating good jobs for Canadians as well as will be paying business taxes which will benefit the country, province and city. Hence it is likely that he would be granted a work permit.

Aisha was unable to meet the requirements to be allowed to immigrate into Canada. Aisha is unable to speak English, has not completed secondary school and seems to have no plans or an actual career path. She brings little benefit to the country of Canada and would potentially pose a meaningful financial burden to the country. Her father wants to sponsor her but she is questioning living with her father. She has no means of supporting herself other than her father, who is also struggling with integrating into Canadian culture. She would struggle economically in Canada because of the language barrier and her lack of education or work experience. She will also find it hard to adapt into Canadian culture. Aisha should be denied immigration into Canada.

Lei is a good applicant to apply to immigrate into Canada. She has family here already who can sponsor her, assist her economically as well as provide her with housing initially. Additionally her family is prepared to offer her employment at her uncle’s store in Chinatown. She has an engineering degree from her native China and believes she will be able to work her way up to becoming an engineer in Canada. Although this will be a challenge as she only knows rudimentary English, her past education history would suggest that she would
