Dr. Media: One tablespoon of propaganda.

Advertising is a prominent feature of modern advertising. Consumers encounter advertising messages as they watch TV, read magazines, listen to the radio, explorer the internet, or just walking down the street. If you add in that the average American is subjected to 1500 advertisements per day, be prepared to ask your sub-conscious for a little clarity on why your perception is warped into eating McDonald’s in a Mercedes on your way to work, or your living room if you work from home. You can say it’s pretty much out of the question for an average American to ride a bike to the super market for fresh fruits, in any circumstance. What’s wrong with that picture? Typically nothing, but if you multiply it to be a fraction of 302 Million people it leads to more controversial issues like obesity, hypertension, and diabetes just to name a few. More importantly, America was invented on basic fundamentals such as freedom, opportunity and strives for capitalism. And evolved today as in-debt, poverty, sick and now fat however America still remains today as the world’s most elite country. The collection of advertising in its form of propaganda can be compared to as a plague or virus that capitalizes on humanity through advertising, manipulating the way an individual thinks about their products. The magnitude of its strengths displays negative effects on human health and is implanted to you and your society at birth and is broadcasted too until death.

The number 1 health epidemic surfacing in American happens to be narrowed down to overweight and obesity. To gain a grasp of this, consider 20 years ago every state reported to be fewer than 14% obesity. Now it’s reported to be a national average of 25% obesity, which just happens to be the percentage of population that eats fast food every day, contributing to the American budget of 100 billion spent on fast food every year. To put all this in a perspective capsule, the American culture is to be apart of the work place, “on the go” and convenience is associated with a quick bite from a fast food restaurant not nutrition. In theory, society has revolutionized to be apart of the working class and traditional family roles having incorporated convenience into their lifestyles.

On the more important side of this margin, is the change in American children. They are a big category of the tragedy. In what time are we in, when the brand of McDonald Arches is more recognizable then Santa Claus? A time when 40% of high schools are offering fast food in lunches, your kids have friends staying over and it’s an invasion for the pizza roles, or even better when the mom insists to order a pizza, online. Apart of children’s eating habits, the World Wide Web (the largest non-physical activity movement) has surfaced in more then half the American homes and all public schools, with the expectations of national broadband access virtually everywhere. Allowing more access to faster speeds of internet will improve its chances of more reliable access, keeping you exploited to consistent advertisements.

When most American children enter society through a public education model, their first exposed to what is called Popular Culture. You can hear of many examples, when branding appears in a child’s vocabulary. The first major brand to appear would be Disney followed by the fast food legend Ronald McDonald. By the time a child is able to glaze its eyes past a television screen their vegetative state brains will be soaking up on information like what to eat, wear, talk, look, like, and want in sub-blimial messages at the rate of 30 mph (messages per hour). Parent to be enforcing their children with morals, values and norms however the majority, now apart of the working class, the population have become more obsessed with popular culture from early exposure themselves, it’s nearly easy to say, media outlets are encrypting “The American Dream” into the structure of a child’s mind vision.

Among many things contribute to the success of America but one known principle Americans follow is a science based model research showing facts. In the medical industry, call it, biological model of medicine. That typically means there is a medication or a pill to alter your biological make on fighting any kind of disease.
