                    Disadvantages of My Home

Many of us live in a place where we see security, enjoyment and relaxation. Some of us choose a place where they can save money on paying rent, free water bills and cheap sewer charges. I for example, choose the place where me and my wife ana can have a person to babysit our two boys Jaden and Jairus. But the place we live has a bit of “ohhss and ahhss”. Three examples of this “ohhss and ahhss” are the police always roaming the in the streets every night, parking spaces, and homeless loitering the place every night. These are the things I consider ohhss and ahhss or I say disadvantages of the place I live in.

The first year that me and my wife move to her parents house in National City, San Diego. I already noticed the nightly police activity in the neighborhood. That made me wondered what’s going on that these police are keep on making their rounds in  my neighborhood. Then one before I leave and go to work, I see one of my neighbors handcuffed and leaned over to one of the patrol cars. I overheard one of the police officers saying; “you’re under arrest for possessing illegal drugs”. Then I came to a conclusion that the proximity of the area I live in is a hot spot for drug exchanges. This makes me more alert and more aware on what’s happening on our community. This has taken some of my security on the place I live in thinking there will be some sort of occurrence randomly anytime.

Another disadvantage is the homeless people that loiters our surrounding looking for a place to sleep and panhandling signs that says “Homeless need $ for help”. One morning when I’m washing my car on our garage, one homeless person wearing rugged blue jeans with some dirt stains, brown shirt that I know it has became brown because on him sleeping the in dirt, mud dirty covered face, hair that looks sticky and oily and his smells like a dead rat starting to decay come near me and asking for money. I honestly don’t have some spare money or cash at that time. So I told him that “sorry bro. I’ll get back on you next time’, then he left. The following morning I saw him again standing on the corner street where I supposed to make my left turn. He’s standing there with some of his homeless friends looking at me like they want to rob me or they’re going to break in our house once he saw me left. Then I went down my car, confronted the homeless dude that talked to me the day before and asking him if he needs anything. He smiled at me saying “ you said you’re going to get back some for me today”. Then I remembered what I said and gave him $2 just for him to be satisfied and leave us alone. These circumstances are also the reasons why I have a feeling of moving some other place and forget my old neighborhood.
