Communication Difficulties: My Experience

The communication difficulty can be a turning point in our life. Mostly, it results in miscommunication. I have some problems with my language. I cannot express my ideas in a proper way.

In general, I use the gestures in order to explain my thoughts frequently. They are used to make the words clearer, on the other hand, I replace the words with them. For example, in order to indicate the decrease I put down my hand or raising the hand means the increase. It makes people to guess the meaning of the expressions of my hands that can be difficult. Also, from the side it looks funny: I am acting like a clone.

I should recognize that I have this problem not only with learnt languages, but even with my native language, Uzbek. If I cannot remind some words in Uzbek, I tell them in other language (mostly Russian). I think for a while and attempt to find the word, but if I cannot come up, I continue my speech in Russian.

One day unknown Uzbek person called. When it was my turn, I suddenly switched to Russian. Unfortunately, then he informed me that he speaks only Uzbek. I attempted to take it into account and act respectively. Though, I could not have reached this. The man was angry because he thought that I did not respect him. It was my failure. I felt so bad because of misunderstanding from his side.

These communication difficulties has caused many troubles. When it occurs, I promise myself to work on it. I try to read books, yet I do not feel that they are helpful. Possibly, this is a result of the characteristics of my way of thinking: I always try to shorten the sentence. This may end up with limited words and consequently with poor speaking skills. Thus, I should improve my way of thinking.
