I would describe popular American culture as things we do for entertainment as a society. Something you can safely assume that your neighbor does too. Over the course of three days I compiled a list of what I assume is popular American culture. They are going to eat at Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s, Panda Express and Taco Bell. We also watched a few movies like Awake, Rendition and Just Friends. I also watched a show on the Discovery channel talking about the end of the world and how one scientist thinks it will happen presenting his evidence on his theory. I use my cell phone on a regular basis to text message and make phone calls, my computer to instant message with my husband when he’s at work. My family and I went out to the Circus on Saturday and I also found myself browsing through People Magazine and the IKEA catalog. We also had a birthday party for my daughter.I have noticed that we go out to eat a lot, and I am very celebrity focused, I find myself spending my free time looking at celebrity magazines or watching celebrity focused TV shows. The themes that I find that are prevalent are eating and watching TV. Since I am a stay at home mom I do have more down time than most people who work outside of the home since I make my own schedule and do things when I’m ready to do them instead what schedule I need to keep.I definitely feel that my pop culture artifacts are mainly convenience and pleasure. On our drive to and from my husband’s workplace we pass by 15 fast food places which makes it really easy to just say let’s get food here instead of going home and making something to eat. Watching TV is for pleasure and sometimes for healthy lifestyle information. Since I have diabetes I’m always looking for information on healthy eating and new exercises. Pop culture has obviously effected my decision making from where we go to eat to what we choose to watch on TV. I also think it effects people’s decision making every day from the clothes and shoes they buy to where they as well. I do think that I am aware of
