Introduction:

Lunar Eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the Earth’s Penumbral and Umbral shadows. It only occurs during Full Moon.

        During 2000 BCE to 3000 BCE, 7, 718 eclipses were recorded. The result shows, that one and a half eclipses occurs every year. The actual number of the occurrence of lunar eclipse happened each year ranges from 0 to 3.

Aim:

  1. To explain the occurrence of Lunar Eclipse.
  2. To expand the knowledge of everyone of how Lunar Eclipse happens.

Results and Discussions:

Lunar Eclipse occurs when the moon’s phase is at Full Moon and only if it pass exactly at the same plane of the Earth’s shadows. The Figure 1 shows the exact alignment of the sun, earth and moon during total lunar eclipse. The moon turns red during eclipse because of the light coming from the sun that passes through the Earth’s atmosphere shedding some light on the Earth’s natural satellite. Each single year Lunar Eclipse can range from 0 to 3. The Figure 2 shows the incidence of lunar eclipse for 2011 to 2018. The basic types of Lunar Eclipse are Total, Partial and Penumbral. A viewer can safely observe the Lunar eclipse without the help of any devices.
