Worldviews

The definition of worldview is, any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement, or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world, and man’s relation to God and the world. To me that basically means how a person views life and their religion. A person’s worldview has a major influence on their life because it guides them on how to live life. Their worldview is filled with their own personal beliefs and how they choose to go by it. The influence of someone’s worldview can give them their outlook on life and beliefs.

Christian worldview has the belief in God, that He created the heavens and the earth, and that He sent His son to die on the cross for our sins. The Bible has a great part in everything they believe. The Christian theological base believes in theism, which is the belief in a supernatural God, or Trinitarian Monotheism. This also means they believe that God revealed Himself in three forms, Jesus Christ, the Trinity, and the Holy Spirit. For philosophy Christians hold to the belief of supernaturalism. Supernaturalism is the belief that reality is more than nature; that a transcendent agent intervenes in the course of natural law. With ethics Christians believe in moral absolutes and God’s nature. Moral absolutes is the belief that an absolute ethical standard exists for all individuals regardless of era or culture, and God’s nature is the belief that God has his own nature in what and when to do something. With biology Christians believe in theistic evolution. Theistic evolution is the belief that God works through the natural process of evolution. Christians hold firm to the belief that

God is the one creator of everything.

Islamic worldview holds to the belief of one god. Their most important source of truth is the Qur’an. The Qur’an is the holy book of Islam, Muslims believe it’s the literal word of God and the culmination of God’s relation to mankind. Islamic views are somewhat similar to that of Christianity. Islam believe in Unitarian theism when it comes to their theology. Unitarian theism is the belief in one God in one person. Islamic people reject the Christian doctrine of the Trinity and that Jesus Christ died on the cross, to them Jesus was just a prophet. With their philosophy they believe in Supernaturalism: combination of faith and reason. They do believe in the existence of angels and in the final judgment, which is an implied belief in life after death. In ethics they believe in Allah’s will, which are Allah’s commands for all believers to follow. They also have the Five Pillars of Practice in which they abide by. The Five Pillars of Islam encompass the basic moral obligations for Muslims, they are 1. Confession, 2. Prayer, 3. Fasting, 4. Almsgiving, and 5. Pilgrimage. When it comes to biology they as well believe that God, whom they call Allah, has always existed and that He created the universe.

Secular Humanist worldview mainly holds to atheism or humanism, and do not believe in God or Jesus Christ. Secular Humanists have the Humanist Manifesto in which they strongly believe in. The Humanist Manifesto is the title of three manifestos laying out a secular humanist worldview, the central theme of all three is a philosophy that does not include the belief in God. Their theological base is the belief in naturalism, or materialism. Naturalism is the philosophical belief that reality is composed solely of matter and that all phenomena can be explained in terms of natural causes. They deny all existence of supernatural beings. Their ethics include moral relativism, the belief that morals are relative to the individual and the situation. Having the atheistic theology it presents a problem for them when it comes to choosing a code of ethics. Secular Humanists reject codes of the Christian religion, such as the Ten Commandments, and are working towards a “science of ethics” that keep with their beliefs in atheism, naturalism, and evolution. They belief in evolution (Darwinism) for their form of biology. Evolution is the idea that life on earth originated from inanimate matter and proceeded to change over time into the diversity of plants and animals as evidenced by fossils and currently living organisms.

Marxist-Leninist worldview basically revolves around atheism in which they have The Atheist’s Handbook. The Atheist Handbook was to eliminate the remaining religions, it attacks the Bible, the Qur’an, Christianity, and Islam. Their theological base is atheism and have hatred of anything supernatural or Christian. To be a Marxist you must see atheism as part of the scientific, materialistic, socialistic outlook and to get rid of all that is religious. Their philosophy is dialectical materialism, the theory that the primary functioning of nature involves a continuous process of a thesis coming in conflict with its antithesis, resulting in a new synthesis. This is the Marxist Leninist approach to understanding and changing the world. For ethics they believe in proletariat morality, the ethical belief that whatever advances the proletariat and the cause of communism is morally good and whatever hinders the proletariat or communism morally evil. This pretty much means whatever makes the proletariat view sound or look better is good. In biology they believe in Darwinism Evolution, theory by Charles Darwin that species gradually evolve into new species over time.
