The Story Of Abraham

Abraham was a man of great faith. The scriptures call him the father of all believers (Rom 4:11-12) and the friend of God (2 Chronicles 20:7; Isaiah 41:8, James 2:23). On what was Abraham's faith founded? What were his principles? The Bible tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. If you want to receive any blessing from God, you should believe that God exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him (Heb 11:6)

The first principle is that faith stands firmly on God's word. For a man of faith the word of God always settles the matter, whatever the circumstances may be. What God says is true and we ought to obey. True faith is obedience to God's word. Abraham believed God and did what God told him to do. God's word is truth. Unbelief is sin.

When God told Abraham to leave his country, he did so without arguing. When God promised him a son, he believed in spite of his age. God spoke to him. God speaks to us through his servants; we can hear his voice by listening to an anointed sermon or reading an article. We can hear God's voice by reading the Bible. He speaks to us by His holy-Spirit who dwells in us. I know when God speaks to me, I receive a testimony of the Holy Spirit in my heart and I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that God has spoken to me.

Read God's words to Abraham in Genesis 13:14-17: "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go; walk through the length and breadth of the hand, for I am giving it to you."

And in Genesis 15:5 God took him outside and said: "look up at the heavens and count the star- if indeed you can count them." Then he said to him, "so shall your offspring be."

You can clearly see in those words that God was trying to give Abraham a clear vision of what he had in store for him. True faith comes from God's word. It's receiving from God a vision. And even if it seems impossible, it will come to pass. God's word cannot fail! God has done great and marvelous things for the church, my family and me. Your dream will come true. Nothing is impossible to God. Everything is possible to him that believes.

When God has spoken to you and the word of God has created a spiritual vision in your spirit, the next step is to voice one what you believe. Abraham did not consider the facts that his senses were telling him. Faith and human senses look in opposite directions. The life of faith goes beyond human senses, beyond human reasoning, beyond the dimension of space and time. Without faith it is impossible to please God. (Rom 4:18-21)

Many people fear to tell others what God has told them. They find many reasons not to do it. Sometimes it makes people laugh because it seems so impossible, and every time the dream has become true.
