Sensitivity training is a widely used training method in organizations. Firo B can be used as a part of the training program to test and retest the skills that are imparted through training. It can first be used to see where the trainee stands and then post training it can be used to judge the effectiveness of the training program. A study conducted took into account 100 sensitivity training programs and found that, changes post training programs included more favorable self-concept, reduced prejudice, modified scores on the Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation-Behavior Test (FIRO-B) (Smith, 1975) This shows the clear link between Firo B and sensitivity training along with its wide use in organizations.

Interpersonal relationship refers to a strong association among individuals working together in the same organization. The interpersonal relationship that an employee develops at his workplace is a key to his career and job success The significance of interpersonal skills is fundamentally increasing as the productivity of the workplace is directly linked with the quality of relationship among the employees. In a recent study conducted, researchers found the necessity of understanding the level of interpersonal competence of the young professionals so that they can go on par with the existing and experienced professionals. In order to gauge the interpersonal competence, the researchers adopted FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Relationship Orientation- Behavior) which is considered as a significant tool in assessing the interpersonal skills of the professionals (Umashankar & Charitra, 2016). As a typical contemporary adult spends the most of his or her time at work, relationships with other members of organization do play a very important role in everybody’s professional life. Relationships influence individual satisfaction at work, well- being but also individual commitment, performance, quality of decisions etc. If they are positive, the employees show more positive attitude towards an organization, feel less overloaded with work and their well-being increases (Lis, Glińska-Neweś, & Kalińska, 2015). Employees working together ought to share a special bond for them to deliver their level best. It is essential for individuals to be honest with each other for a healthy interpersonal relationship and eventually positive ambience at the workplace. Employees must get along well for a positive and healthy work environment at the workplace. An employee spends around eight hours at his workplace and it is practically not possible for him to work all alone. He needs co-employee to talk to and discuss various issues at the workplace. It is a common fact that the productivity increases manifold when employees work together in groups as compared to an individual employee working alone.

Many people find the FIRO-B useful in career, family and relationship counselling (Robbins & Toomer, 1976), management and leadership development (Jenster, 2012), improving team performance(Fisher, Macrosson, & Walker, 1995) and team building (Varney & Hunady, 1978).
