Forrest Gump

In this piece of work, I will be writing about the film ‘Forrest Gump’. In this essay, I will be writing about Forrest’s life journey as a child to an adult and how his life can be compared to a box of chocolates. You never know what is going to happen or where life will take you.

Firstly, the film “Forrest Gump” is a story about a man called Forrest Gump, who has a low IQ as well as suffers from weak legs as his spine has muscle problems. He had been bullied because of his learning disability and because he wore braces on his leg. His mom did not want Forrest to go to special school and she would do anything to have him go to regular school. On his first day of school, he was getting on the bus and he said to the driver, “Momma says not to get ride from strangers. This is a bus to school… Hi, I am Forrest, Forrest Gump. I am Dorothy Harris. Now we ain’t strangers anymore.” When Forrest gets on the bus he was trying to find a seat for himself, but every time he went by a seat they said, “Can’t sit her.” At this time, he met Jenny and they became friends. They had done everything together.

However even though Forrest Gump has many disadvantages, it is safe to say that he has achieved many incredible successes in his life. He has overcome his educational disabilities. Forrest also achieved walking without braces on his legs.

Forrest has undertaken a long journey that can been seen as remarkable for a person who has an IQ of a mentally disabled person, because of this he might be seen as a “lucky guy”. One might see him as “unlucky” because of the extreme sadness that he also endured. For all the sad times, happiness and love guide his life.

With the disadvantages the Forrest had he has was still able to become a war hero for saving a large number of his army comrades. He also had received the Medal of Honor for his heroicness. He also gave a speech the day he got the medal, but you could not hear him because someone unplugged all the cords when he was talking. Forrest amazingly received a football scholarship a1nd given the opportunity to meet the president of the United States of America.

In addition, Forrest Gump has also became a Ping Pong champion. He started to play when he was in the hospital after struck in the buttocks from the war. He was injured while helping his platoon to safety. One of the other army people asked if he ever played before. That is the thing he was good at and helped him with filling the time while he was over. Forrest was so good that he played for the army ping-pong team. After his time was up in the army he kept playing, but not on any team.
