Libertarianism

As a second-generation Hispanic-American, I hope to be the first person in my family to complete high school and attend college. I feel that graduating from college, honors the sacrifices, expectations and continued support of my family. In a country with so many educational opportunities, I relish the chance to set a standard of excellence for others to follow.

Currently I am majoring in education (with a math concentration) and business administration. I am working towards a degree for both areas at Orange Community College. My career plans are to graduate from Orange County Community College and further my education at a local four-year college. Upon graduation, I hope to establish a learning center in my community to teach individuals of all ages in a variety of scholastic areas. I would like to be a greater asset to community by obtaining a college degree. Attending college will help me better my community, better the opportunities for my family, and set an example for those who lookup to me (my community, co-workers, friends, and family).

I would love the opportunity to better the learning resources in my community. Currently, I tutor children and adults in my community, teaching basic computer skills, and English out of my home. However, I am using outdated materials and outdated computers. Once, I achieve a higher education, I hope to attain better resources for my community. I so enjoy helping people through a "hands-on" approach. Tutoring has taught me the responsibility of seeing a project through to completion, to be punctual, reliable, and to dignify an individual's abilities, rather than faults. It gives me a sense of inner peace and satisfaction to know that I am contributing to my fellow neighbor in such a meaningful and fulfilling way.
