"Free vacation!" My sister called me and told me she was taking me to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Cape Hatteras is also known as "The Outer Banks" or "OBX." Ten hours later, we finally arrived at the beach house. I got out of the van, went up the stairs, and headed straight to the fridge for an icy cold beer!

The next day, I turned on the television, only to hear that Tropical Storm Beryl was forming off the coast of Cape Hatteras. Nearby were several news broadcasters up the coast assuring everyone that evacuation was not necessary. The next day was beautiful even with the storm off the coast. Although there were more waves and riptides, the storm stayed away and I continued to enjoy my vacation.
