Truth

By: Amber Spencer

The Truth. Truth is defined as actuality or an actual existent. People may argue sometime that the truth is not really an actuality but somewhat of a guess. For example, in the story Morgan, Morgan, Mr. Morgan is not really sure of what is to come but only guesses that it will, like death and like the Morgan Nugget, yet he makes his granddaughter believe that it is the truth because it is what he believes will happen. In my opinion, this story suggests that truth is what you make of it. When Uncle Charlie dies, the young protagonist’s grandmother tells her that he went to heaven. Well, it’s her decision if she wants to believe that is the truth or not. Like many people in today’s society, many of them, in a religious sense, believe in the Lord and that he is the truth to them. Is this not merely a guess? Nobody really knows what comes after death until they actually experience it. Yet they go around telling others of the truth of the Lord. So the question remains, how can you tell the difference between truth and a lie?? This story suggests that, in my opinion, it’s up to you to decide. Yes, you can sometimes see that the truth is not really true, but when it comes to what you believe, such as your faith or something your being told , then that is when you look to your heart and decide on your own what is the truth. It is not that easy to tell the truth from a lie but what else can we do. It is like reading a biography or some other piece of nonfiction which is supposed to tell you the truth but how do we know if it is?? It is usually someone else who is telling the story of an event that “actually happened.” But how do we know it happened if we did not see it ourselves. Everything that we know was told to us by someone other than ourselves. We have no choice but to believe what they say.
