  1. Successful decision making relies on a balance between deliberate and instinctive thinking. Bob Golomb story (Bob Golomb is a car salesman whose have a lot of customers and he has strategy to make his customers loyal to him. He would ask whether the car runs well or not to the customers who bought the car and he would call customers whose didn’t buy his car to say thanks for them by passing by his dealer the day after customers came to his dealer). Bob Golomb is a great car salesman because he is very good, in the moment, at intuiting the intentions and needs and emotions of his customers (This is refers to Bob Golomb who would not consider any discrimination toward his customers either it by skin, race or gender of customers). Deliberate thinking is a wonderful tool when we have the luxury of time, the help of a computer, and a clearly defined task and the fruits of that type of analysis can set the satage for rapid cognition.
  2. In good decision making, frugality matters. Overloading the decision makers with information, makes picking up the signature harder, not easier. To be a successful decision maker, we have to edit. When we thin-slice, when we recognize patterns and make snap judgments, we do this process of editing unconsciously. If you’re given too many choices, if you are forced to consider much more than your unconscious s comfortable with, you get paralyzed. Snap judgments can be made in a snap because they are frugal, and if we want to protect our snap judgments, we have to take steps to protect that frugality.
  3. Anlytic versus intuitive decision making, neither is good or bad, is only bad as if you use it in an inappropriate circumstance.
  4. Mind Reading Ability : there are always situation that leads to the mind-blind, the loss ability to read people’s minds. Mind reading allows us to adjust and update our perceptions of the intention of others.  Several factors and conditions cause this mind blind.
  1. Arousal – the range in which stress improves performance – is when our heart rate is between 115 and 145 beats per minute. But after 145, bad things begin to happen, complex motor skills start to break down. Doing something with one hand and not the other becomes very difficult. At 175, we begin to see an absolute breakdown of cognitive processing, the forebrain shuts down and the mid brain reaches up and hijacks, that’s why we cannot have discussion with an angry or frightened human being. People who are beig fired at the heightened level of threaten represented b a heart rate of 1175 and above, the body considers that kind of physiological control a nonessential activity. That arousal leaves us mind-blind
  2. There is no time. Running out of white space, white space is the distance between the target and any potential assailant, the more white space there is, the more bodyguard has to react. Looked at the assasination of Ronald Reagan that took about 1,8 seconds from the bodyguards realized to the point they useless to draw their weapon. It also happened in the South Korea president’s assasination, the tragedy has taken also for 3,5 seconds. We become temporarily autistic also in situations when we run out of time.
