Shaving Heads

Shampoos, conditioners, hairsprays, a curling iron and a flat iron; these are just a few necessities that females require for their hair. It is no wonder that with all these essentials females are becoming unbearably obsessive over their hair. Some call it good personal hygiene while others call it a waste of time, but whatever it is, it has become an epidemic. In order to end this burdensome problem all females should shave their heads. By doing so, there will be fewer car related accidents, females would have more time, more money, worry less about their appearance and they would perform better academically at school or at work.

In the spring, summer and fall many people drive with their windows open or take a nice long walk while the breeze whips through their hair. According to the New York Police Department Commissioner James Green women are responsible for more car accidents than males. This is because they try to quickly fix their hair in the rear-view mirror while driving or their hair flies into their eyes momentarily blinding them, which then leads to a car accident (CBC News Interview). Even when their hair is tied up the wind still blows their hair all over the place and messes up the hairdo, thus females feel the need to fix their hair as it gets messy. This is a compulsive tendency called Encefalpicia that most females suffer from. Encefalpicia was discovered by psychologist Amy Winter, who has done numerous studies on females of all ages and ethnicity. She found that many young women suffer from Encefalpicia вЂ" extremely attached to one’s own hair вЂ" and has yet to find a cure (Winter 1001). By shaving their heads, females are removing the source of the problem. Encefalpicia cases will rapidly decline and psychologists can focus more on people with more troubling issues. There will not be anything to fix in the mirror because the hair will be gone and make-up cannot get ruined from the wind. Even if it did, what self respecting female would do their make-up in a moving car? There will also be nothing there to fly into their eyes while they are driving. Jack Portilla an expert on insect behaviour says that most insects do not like to come near people (Portilla 2). Due to this they will not fly into a person’s eye and are therefore not harmful to a person while they are driving. Also, since most insects do not associate with people they will simply fly right back out of the window and will not interfere with the driver. Additionally, according to Portilla most insects fly into the windshield of a moving car, so they rarely make it into the car. In addition to the car accidents, Jeff Green also stated that more females are involved in car related accidents such as being hit by a car than males are. This is because they are busy playing with their hair or worrying about their hair. They fail to see oncoming traffic and fail to pay attention to the traffic lights; as a result they are struck down. If females shaved their heads they will pay more attention to the traffic lights and their surrounding environment, they will get hurt a lot less because they will not be distracted by their hair and will not be worrying if their hair is messy because it will be gone. Females getting rid of their hair are ensuring a safer drive home, safer driving atmosphere and are saving lives.

Females spend a lot of time and money to maintain their hair. They have to wash it, brush it, dry it and style it. This takes a lot of time and more often than not most females end up being unhappy with the end result; therefore, it is lather rinse and repeat again and again until the desired hairstyle is achieved. If females shaved their heads then what is there to wash, brush dry and style? Nothing. Females would have a lot more time to do other important things like prepare for school, work or pick a new outfit for the coming day. They will not have to waste time trying to decide how they want to do their hair and whether or not their chosen hairstyle goes with their chosen outfit. Getting ready in the morning would be a breeze and because there is no hair to worry about, more females can sleep in and get some extra rest so they will be awake and alert for the day. No more falling asleep during class or during a major business meeting, instead the female would be wide awake and may even get that promotion or A+ they are hoping for. In addition to the wasted time, there is all this money that goes into purchasing all the necessary tools for styling hair; curling iron, flat iron, mousse, gel, hair clips, hairspray, hair ties, blow dyer and the list keeps going. Having females shave their heads ensures that they have more money in their bank accounts that could be put towards a major purchase such as a new home, car or Chanel handbag because they no longer have to buy hair products that are used one time and then left in the cupboard under the sink. Also, by shaving their heads females will no longer have to compare their hair to each other. No female will ever be intimidated by another female’s hair ever again. No female will ever have to worry about someone else’s hair being prettier than their own and all females
