Political Party - America First Party

The “America First Party” was formed on April 15 2002 when a group of extremely right wing conservatives decided to leave the Reform Party. Representatives from eight states including, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia, Mississippi, Illinois, New Hampshire, Colorado, and Iowa, Along with other independent leaders of the Reform Party. This group (unofficially Pat Buchanan Supporters) was very displeased with the Reform Party. There was an agreement between the campaigning leaders of the party and its members that the Reform Party was permanently broken. Buchanan, has never officially came out and said he was a part of this party but he is selling his books autographed especially for the party on the America First party’s official website. His supporters were very angry about the unfair treatment, “perceived cold-shouldering” he received from the Reform Party. The America First Party was officially founded by John Francis. Francis, stated that he wanted to put candidates in office that will restore morality, ethics, common sense, and service to the public, and wanted to return the constitution back to its place in the republic.

The party’s ideology advocates nationalist policies, non-interventionist foreign policies, withdrawal from the United Nations and NATO, enhanced state’s right and a temporary ban on all immigration. It rejects any form of gun control, and supports traditional values of faith and family. They believe in minimal government involvement and they want to go back to old American traditions and values.

The party’s main focuses are Gun Control, Abortion, Foreign Policy, Gay Rights, and immigration. They believe that all restrictions on Gun Control should be repealed and no limitations should be placed on guns whatsoever. The party believes abortion should be illegal under all circumstances. On Foreign Policy they feel the U.S government should not get involved with other countries. The party believes that people that are gay should not be able to marry, be in civil unions, or adopt children due to religious beliefs, they believe in traditional beliefs with man and women only.

The America First Party supports Faith-based welfare grants equal with secular groups. In 2004 President Bush established the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives to coordinate Federal, State, and local efforts to tear down barriers that have prevented religiously affiliated groups from applying for government grants on an equal footing with secular organizations.
