INTRODUCTION

A student survival guide, my survival guide. The topics included in this paper are the tools that I have learned, tools that I must continue to practice, and the tools that will assist me in being successful not only in my educational endeavor, my journey into the workplace, and my life.

USING AXIA’S EDUCATION RESOURCES

Using the educational resources that are available while attending Axia College is something that I need to do to help me make it through these classes; it's something that I need to do to improve my skills in areas such as grammer and punctuation. The ability to use the resources to help me in assignments, checkpoints, and writing papers is extremely helpful; and the ability to then take that paper onto the website and use the resource that I value most, the Center for Writing Excellence and plagiarism checker, is going to help me in every aspect of my endeavor into college.

UPHOLDING ACADEMIC HONESTY

Upholding academic honesty is not difficult at all as it simply means, to my understanding, do not submit work that was written by anyone else as your own. Do not engage in plagiarism of any type or in any form. If you use someone else’s words at all within the text of any of your assignments you must properly cite the work that you are quoting or even paraphrasing. If you do not properly cite the information you run the risk of having part or all of that assignment thrown out and not receiving a grade for that assignment. So it is extremely important that you cite all references and any text or thought that are not your own, and that you do so in exactly the format and manner that is requested by your instructor.

SETTING AND ACHIEVING GOALS

Learning to set short-terms, median-term, and long-term goals is something that I know how to do, I know the importance of, I just need to focus on actually doing it. I need to make sure that I reflect back on the goals that I set and also to make sure that the goals set are simple and attainable. Failing to meet or exceed the milestones that I have placed can cause loss of self esteem and a feeling of being “left behind” by your classmates. These three types of goals are the building blocks or stepping stones towards attaining my educational goals and professional goals after my degree is completed. I will make a list of my goals and place them in a common area in my home, maybe above my computer so that I will always be able to look at them and gage my progress toward attaining them.
