Many would say that 'Tom' is a genius. Many would argue that he has lost his mind. Either way you view it, Tom has made a made a major impact in today's world. Tom Anderson is one of the creators and founders of the new hit wonder MySpace.com. This is a community based web-site where it is made simple to create your own webpage. It seems as if half of the world's population that owns a computer has jumped on this band wagon. You can keep track of your friends because you can add them to your page. You can view up and coming bands, play games, send IMs, send email, participate in forums and group discussions. Most of all you can be yourself. It may seem like the perfect addition to today's society but some people do not agree.

Since MySpace has opened its doors in 2003, over 50,000,000 accounts have been created. It was first designed as a site where indie bands could post their music and get it heard. Now it seems as if every youth in America and other countries have taken over. When MySpace started, there was an age limit of 18. Anyone under 18 could not join. The age limit then dropped to 16 before becoming the 14 that it is now. The users under 16 though cannot be found through searches for protection. Parents are in an uproar because of sexual predators that roam MySpace in search of children. Media has been all over the accusations and there is even talk about MySpace being shut down. I say the uproar is over nothing.

In my opinion MySpace is a very safe site to go to keep track of your friends and to get in touch with your old. It is just a place for people to hang out. But of course, just like everything that make the youth of today happy, there are parents there to shut it down. I see no difference from the production of a MySpace page than that of an AOL profile where pictures can be posted. The same young children are there too, posting provocative pictures of their 14 year old bodies for
