My Surfing Locations

Just how you can not be pleased with coffee without good beans, having a good surf is all about the breaks. Surfing has been going on since the year 400 AD and people are going harder today than ever. The beginning of riding the waves originated from the Western Polynesia about three thousand years ago. The fisherman discovered that riding along the waves made it more efficient to catch fish throughout the day. This eventually became a recreational activity called “catching the waves.” There is no exact date of when surfing became a sport, however when it became popular, every surfer around the globe wanted to find the biggest and most epic breaks they can find.

Known as the “Surfers Paradise,” Gold Coast, Australia is easily one of the most known beaches throughout the world. With five grand break points (The Spit, Main Beach, Narrowneck, Palm Beach and Mermaid Beach) and seventy kilometers of great sand and seawater, and seagulls…. the Gold Coast has one of the most consistent waves and has many competitions held there. Within those five break points you are almost always guaranteed good waves and in the mornings, boogie boarding is always good prior to the wind coming in. If sharks do not scare you can go to Queensland where they have the cleanest and most consistent waves.

Located in the coast west of Sumatra, Indonesia, the Mentawai Islands are most well known for their consistent waves throughout the year. The openness to the Indian Ocean allows perfect waves throughout many different break points of the island such as Siberut, Sipora, North Pagi and South Pagi are the most well known. The waves are great year-round however, the most ideal time to go to the island is during March to early November, but note that the biggest waves come in during June to September.
