IBM has launched the Corporate Service Corps in 2008 to help their employees with high quality leadership development while providing high quality problem solving for organizations in emerging markets.IBM’s Corporate Service Corps is a compassionate program that gives IBM employees an opportunity to provide solution to complex problem in cities of high emerging market. For host cities, it is great probability of benefit from IBM’s proficiency in working on environmental, social and economic tenability challenges. The program allows IBM employees as global citizens, sends groups of 8-15 individuals from different countries with different range of skills to a high emerging market for community based programs. During the task, Employees perform community motivated economic development projects operating at intersection of technology, business and society.

Investment of IBM in Team Works

The amount of hours IBM dedicated to managing the team projects is an outstanding idea. Ron Glover (2008), Chief Diversity Officer of IBM explained “Innovation is about looking at complex problems and bringing new views to the table. Diversity has allowed IBM to be innovative and successful for 100 years and to work across lines of differences in 172 countries, amongst 427,000 employees.” (Diversity Management is the key to growth, para 8).

Team projects have shown to the market how effectively team can lead an organization for good. Team projects take the responsibility of plenty of works with the different people but it demands those people to complete the task that is given. IBM’s human resource has made wise decision in committing many hours to team projects. The teams IBM send to different countries, not only increasing new clients for the company but widen the possibility of new clients via helping the organizations. By following this way, IBM producing a very substantial and diversified team which can contend with any culture and do work efficiently. There are some advantages of this program as below:

• IBM will get the employees who have logical thinking and problem solving ability qualities.

• Employees will be able to conspire globally and subtle to cultural norms.

• This program builds mutual trust and understanding between the employees to accomplish the shared results.

• Increase the knowledge and ability about personal interaction and this team will be able to captivate a team which does not have an allotted leader and an effective communicator.

Interest of Working on IBM’s Diversified Teams

I would like to work on one of the IBM’s multicultural, multinational teams because it will empower the leadership quality development, unique stance and aspiration to increase cultural consciousness. By the knowledge of group decision making process, phases of group development process, ways of improvement in teams, working in teams will be comfortable task to do. Team members can easily adjust and excel in challenging environment and sharpen their analytical and teaming skills.
