Q1. What could Appalachian Home Health Services  (AHHS) have done to increase the number of applicants? 

AHHS used one way for recruitment, local newspaper advertising. Newspaper ad

 does not give enough information, not a great place to reach a lot of people and not

specific for the target audience .  Several other talent sources could have been used:

 - Employee referrals.

        .         - Employment agencies

- Head hunters.

- Social Media.

Employee referrals is appropriate method of recruiting in this case as it saves time and efforts.

Q2. What selection methods did AHHS use? How valid are they? What other methods could be used? 

AHHS used two selection methods:

- The application form.

- The interview.

Both are useful methods of gathering information about applicants, but cannot

 predict performance and their validity and reliability is questionable. Because of

 that,  structured interview with performance and ability tests was a possible

 alternative. It has scoring guide to evaluate and compare the interviewee.

 This method is valid, practical and cost-effective for AHHS.

Q3. Evaluate the Job description used in the case.

Although :

- It is accurate. And,

- The job title, the position purpose and the reporting relationship were written clearly in the title.

- The qualification, license and the task statements were listed clearly.

- It Clarifies some responsibilities.

It does not state:

- Minimum qualifications (number of years and type of experience; type of degree).

- Special skills and abilities needed to fulfill these types of jobs.

 Detailed job description make selection process more objective which can help AHHS and the candidates in recruitment process.
