How to Play Beer Pong

Before you start the game, you must have the essential supplies. These include a surface to be played on. Most of the time people use an eight feet by four feet piece of plywood is used. Although the playing surface is just plywood, it can be one of the biggest factors in in a game of Beer Pong. It is usually painted so you can express yourself and to show off. I have seen football fields, basketball courts, pink tables, tables with glow in the dark writing on it, and the list goes on and on. It is a great way to express yourself. In special cases you can substitute the table for any available resource. I have heard of people using closet doors, kitchen tables, and in desperate cases you can use a short table, then stand a certain set distance away from the table and shoot.

After you have the playing surface, you must have 22 cups, usually plastic sixteen ounce cups, as well as two ping-pong balls. There is also many other different ways you can set-up the cups, some people set up nine cups in a form similar to the form of the pool game nine ball. The most important thing you must have is an abundance of your beverage of choice. Beer is the most popular choice, hence the name of the game. Once you have all of your supplies, you set up ten cups on each side touching each other in a sequence four then three then two then one, in the end it should resemble a triangle. The other two cups are filled with water to wash off the balls, in case the ball hits floor. Then you must fill your cups with your beverage. On average people use about 4 ounces in each cup although there is no limit on the amount you can put in each cup. In an average game each team will use 3 1/3 beers if you are using regular 12 ounce cans.

The object of the game is to throw the ping-pong ball into the opposing teams’ cups. Once a cup is made it is drank and put off to the side. If both members of a team make their shot it is called a “Double Back” this means they get both balls back and may shoot again. There are many different ways to throw the ball. Some people use an Arc shot technique which is the most common. Some use a Fast-ball throw named for its speed not the way thrown, it is pretty much a straight shot. Another way you can shoot in a Bounce shot this can very effective because if it bounces off of the table and goes in a cup it counts as two cups, but the opposite team can swat it after it bounces so it is used when the opposing team is not paying attention. When you have no cups left you are determined the loser. Most people do not play just one game so after a few games most people start to get drunk. There may be many more rules depending on where you play, but the concept is consistent among all games. The game is mostly played at parties as a fun game that can involve a lot of people or as a competitive sport.

Another important an sometimes confusing part of the game is re-racking. This is basically rearranging the cups into a new designated after a certain amount of cups have been made. The most common are six which is a smaller triangle, four which is in a diamond shape, three an even smaller triangle, two which is two cups in a line form, and finally the last single cup by itself in the middle of the table. A re-rack must be called by the throwing team and is done by the opposite team. This can be very influential because sometimes people can miss the re-racks by making one more cup before calling the reform. This in turn can affect your game because
