You are on the first tee and you have just hit that monster drive like Tiger Woods, or you are on the 18th green and you just sank a 15 footer to win the hole like Phil Mickelson. These moments inspire all golfers of all abilities to embark on a life long journey to improve how they play the game of golf. Tour pro's, club champions and beginners tinker with their swing, stance and thoughts in hope that they can play that one miracle round or win a tournament. Have you ever heard "I got it, I had it, I lost it!" this pretty much sums up the frustration this game can produce. Even with all of the driving ranges, lessons, and game improvement clubs the average golfer has not improved very much. However, the biggest difference between the tour pro and the average golfer is the tour pro knows exactly what to practice to improve their game, unlike many amateurs they practice with a purpose.

So what does the golfer need to know to practice with a purpose? Improvement in your game does not come from pounding drivers at the range the range once a week. With no rhyme or reason to your practice, you will not build any consistency in your game. The smart golfer tracks his or hers performance on the course so that when it is time to practice he know what to focus on.
