Gmo Is A Harm To Human ?

Genetically modified food are organisms that combining genes from different

organisams. It is a revolutionary technology called вЂ"recombinant DNA technology.

It is the most debatable issue between scientists and the public. Its sneak

into our daily life without any notice. It is increasingly difficult to decide whether GMO

are safe , as we , the public are not given all the relevant information regarding

the safety of GMO.

The pledge of Monsanto, the leading Biotechnology Company genetic

engineer’s claimed that genetic engineer’s existance is to meet world demand and the world hunger. The world

population is predicted to be way higher than nowadays. It is going to double up

the population of now. Facing such serious challenge, agriculture have to ensure

there are enough food supply to meet the need of the booming population .GMO

foods are considered as the only way to solve the problem. The following factors

make the biotechnology companies keep their promises: Crops which been

genetically modified are pest resistance, herbicide tolerance, disease resistance,

cold tolerance, brought tolerance, salinity tolerance, cold tolerance,

nutrition…etc .GMO food with above advantages can avoid being lost in drought,

and said to be helpful in reducing the cost of production. Crop losses from insect

pests cause a huge amount of financial loss. Avoiding financial losses is not the

only reason of the existence of GMO, it also reduced the use of pesticides . Public are concern about the health effect

of using pesticides. Some researches show that injecting the residue of

pesticides in a long-term period can cause cancer. Public have a thought that the

lesser use of pesticides, the lesser harm to them.

GMO can meet the criteria fully. Not just meeting world demand, GMO are said

to be a new technology to solve the global hunger. However, some criticisms

against it acutely.

problems with technological fixes.” (David Suzuki).In the three world countries such as Zimbabwe, citizens have no sufficient knowledge,

richness soil and suitable weather to grow their crop. And that lead them to

suffer hunger. GMO industries said GMO acts as the first aid of world hunger, but

it’s actually the weapon of it.” The genetically modified food industries, reeling

under a growing rejection of its untested and harmful food products there is

money in hunger, starvation and death.”(Devinder Sharma) the Food aid USAID

will ship the food (GM corn) to Africa. And Africa will pay those by the money

lend from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. And the seller вЂ"the

huge biotechnology industries get their huge profit from the

poor suffering people. After that, the World Bank will ask Africa to pay off their

debts either pay in US currency or by organic corns. First of all, all those

countries are under the poverty line, they have no ability to pay off the debt by

the US currency. Secondly, they are already suffering from hunger though out

the years. They still pay off their debts by their food, even they are lacking of

food. That’s political problems. That’s what the real fact of world hunger .The

dirty, nasty political issue is injuring the life of the poor. Also the greedy

industries, they are using the life of the poor, they are making the poor to be

their huge experiment without any giving any choices to them. And not just the

poor is in their experiment, the nature, the earth are on in too.

GM foods are both Good and evil. Its evil to the nature and maybe

human.” The raises questions about the impact of GM crops on

biodiversity.”(David Suzuki). Scientists are not sure about the GM food �s health risk

on human. But it definitely knows the impact on the biodiversity. As I mentioned

before, some GM crop are genetically modified to have the resistance of pest.

That might be a good thing provided that it grows in the quarantine area.

However it isn’t. These crop’s seed will hybridize with the weed .As result, a

“super weed”-that a weed has the resistance to some kind of pesticides,formed .
