Business Description

Our business idea is a laundry service for TSU students. We would charge a monthly fee to do students' laundry weekly. Our services would include providing customers with laundry bags, picking them up, and returning the next day with their clean laundry. There is currently no laundry service available to TSU students. Other companies who have offered this service in other student markets have been successful.

Company Vision

Bobcat Laundry aspires to be the exclusive laundry service for Texas State University. We will seek to further expand the company by seeking opportunities in association with other universities.

Company Mission

We are dedicated to establishing and maintaining an excellent reputation as an outstanding member of the San Marcos business community. Bobcat Laundry strives to surpass the demands of our customers by providing a reliable and high quality laundry service for an affordable price. We endeavor to provide a valuable and essential service to our clientele, act charitably, responsibly and remain conscious of the environment and our community.

Customer Base

Our team has determined that Texas State University has approximately 27,400 students in the 2007-2008 academic school year. We conducted a survey of 200 potential student customers. The results determined 85 % of those surveyed would be interested in our service. Of those that responded positively to the survey indicated that they would pay up to $35 per month on average for this service.

Competition

Our research at this point has revealed that there are few competitors of Bobcat Laundry. By organizing competitors into two different classifications we are better able to identify them. Direct competition consists of Laundromats that provide complete wash and fold services. Indirect competition includes Laundromats on and off campus, which do not offer wash and fold services. Bobcat Laundry has identified only two direct competitors, which include The Laundry Basket, and G&G Laundromat. These are the current companies located in San Marcos that offer services similar to ours.

There are three Laundromats that we have accepted as indirect competitors, which include Country Clean Laundry, Poly Clean Laundry Center, and Texas State University. Considered indirect because they provide only the equipment necessary for someone to do their laundry, but don't offer full wash and fold services. In addition, the students living in dorms are our target market therefore; Laundromats on the Texas State campus are our biggest competitor.
